Enterprise Background
Gai deposit development started in the middle of 18 century. A unique vitriol lake with therapeutic effect was discovered in Gai region. In 1931 iron ore was banked. Water analysis from Gai lake showed presence of copper.
On January,1 1950 Gai exploration team was created. In 1951 it was declared as industrial copper sulphate deposit. In 1963 development of the deposit by both open and deep-mining methods was commenced. In 1969 a concentrator was put into operation. In 1972 the construction of lower horizons of underground mine at levels 320/380 m., 380/440m was completed. In 1981 stowing complex for mine “Glubokie Gorizonty” was commissioned. In 1984 mine “Expluatatsionnaya” shaft with tower and multi-rope hoists was put into operation.
2000- mining and processing of the first ore from deposit “Letnee”.
2001- level 670-830m was reached by conveyer galleries, and cyclical-and-continuous technology was introduced.
2003- 1 mln of ore was mined from deposit “Letnee” since its development.
2003 – concentrator capacity of copper bearing ores processing achieved 5 mln.tons.
2004- development of deposit “Osennee” was started.
